Single-Stage · High Reduction Ratio

PCF-2018 Hammer Crusher

One-pass crushing with a reduction ratio above 40 — replacing two traditional stages for medium-soft rock such as limestone.

PCF / PCG Series Hammer Crusher

Supply Scope
without motor and without electrical control

Overview

The PCF-2018 belongs to the Hammer Crusher from New Shanbao. Rotating hammers strike the material, which is thrown against the breaker plates, broken again, then compressed and ground between the hammers and the grate bars until it is small enough to pass through. The design is simple and the reduction ratio is large: feed of 600–1,200 mm can be reduced below 25 mm in one pass.

This model is supplied without motor and without electrical control, with a motor power of TBC. It suits medium-soft material up to about 150 MPa — limestone, shale, gypsum, coal, coal gangue — and is widely used in cement, aggregate, coal-power and chemical plants.

The PCF series is an impact-type hammer crusher with impact plates in the chamber, suited to larger feed and somewhat harder rock. The PCG series is a heavy hammer crusher with heavier hammers and a thicker rotor, built for high-tonnage single-stage limestone crushing. Both can replace a traditional jaw-plus-impact two-stage circuit.

✓Design Features

  • Reduction ratio above 40 — one stage replaces two, cutting installed power and civil works significantly.
  • Heavy rotor with high-chromium alloy hammers — impact resistant, wear resistant and reversible.
  • Adjustable output: the grate bar spacing sets the top size, making changes straightforward.
  • Compact and reliable with no complex hydraulics, so routine maintenance is light.
  • Large feed opening accepts blasted run-of-mine rock directly, reducing the need for a primary crusher.
  • Hydraulic shell opening on larger models speeds inspection and hammer changes, cutting downtime.

◎Applications

  • Single-stage limestone crushing in cement plants
  • Primary crushing in aggregate production lines
  • Coal and coal gangue crushing (mine-mouth power plants, coal preparation)
  • Shale, gypsum and clay for building materials
  • Coarse crushing ahead of limestone milling
  • Brittle material in chemical and metallurgical plants
  • Limestone preparation for flue-gas desulphurisation
  • Construction waste and recycled aggregate

Working Principle

The main working part is a rotor fitted with hammers. The motor spins the rotor at high speed; feed entering from the top is struck immediately by the hammers and broken, then thrown against the breaker plates inside the shell. It rebounds and is struck again. Repeated impact, shear and attrition between hammers and grate bars reduce it until it is small enough to pass through the grate and leave the machine.

A hammer crusher achieves the highest reduction ratio of any single machine, above 40, so run-of-mine rock can be turned into a finished fine product in one pass. The trade-off is faster hammer wear and sensitivity to moisture: wet material tends to blind the grate, so the spacing is widened or a grate-free design is used.

Selection Guide

  • By hardness: limestone and shale up to about 150 MPa are ideal; never use a hammer crusher on hard rock.
  • By lump size: for large run-of-mine feed (over 800 mm) choose the heavy PCG series, which accepts big lumps and can eliminate the primary jaw stage.
  • By product size: tighten the grate spacing for a finer product, but recalculate the resulting drop in capacity.
  • By moisture: above roughly 10% moisture, widen the grate or specify a grate-free design to avoid blinding.
  • By abrasiveness: where free silica is high, specify high-chromium hammers and budget for more frequent replacement.

FAQ

Can a hammer crusher produce 100% below 5 mm?

It can, by tightening the grate spacing, but capacity drops sharply, hammer wear accelerates and the fines fraction becomes very high. If a stable fine product is the goal, a better flowsheet is hammer crusher for coarse reduction plus a VSI for sand making, or hammer plus ball/vertical mill for milling — rather than pushing a single hammer crusher.

How long do hammers and grate bars last?

On limestone, high-chromium hammers typically run 400–800 hours and grate bars 600–1,000 hours; with high quartz content, halve those figures. Hammers are reversible, so the practical interval is when they can no longer be turned. Even feeding and avoiding empty-chamber running noticeably extend life.

How does the product differ from an impact crusher?

An impact crusher breaks material by repeated impact, so the product is closer to cubic with less flakiness — good for high-grade aggregate. A hammer crusher achieves a higher reduction ratio and a finer single-pass product, but with more fines and slightly worse shape — better for cement raw meal, desulphurisation limestone or manufactured-sand feed. Decide by whether the downstream product is aggregate or fines.
