Deep crushing cavity, high-manganese jaw plates and a cast-steel frame — the first stage of crushing for hard rock such as granite and basalt.
PE / PEX / PV Series Jaw Crusher
The PE-250×400H is part of the Jaw Crusher from New Shanbao — a compression-type machine used for primary and secondary crushing. Material enters the crushing chamber from the top; the movable jaw swings toward and away from the fixed jaw, squeezing, splitting and bending large blocks until they break and discharge through the outlet at the bottom.
This model is supplied with motor; electrical control and jacking device not included, with a standard motor power of 11kw. It is widely used in mining, aggregate production, building materials, metallurgy and construction-waste recycling, and pairs with vibrating feeders, cone crushers, impact crushers and vibrating screens to form a complete crushing plant.
The jaw crusher is the first gate of an entire production line, and its feed opening sets the maximum lump size that can be accepted. The throughput and closed-side-setting range of the PE-250×400H must be matched against the requirements of the downstream secondary crusher to get the best out of the whole plant.

The working mechanism consists of a fixed jaw and a movable jaw. The motor drives the eccentric shaft through V-belts; the pitman and toggle plates make the movable jaw swing in a compound pendulum motion. When the movable jaw approaches the fixed jaw, material in the chamber is squeezed, split and bent until it breaks; as the jaw retreats, the broken material discharges through the outlet under its own weight.
Crushing is a continuous, alternating process. Shaft speed, jaw throw and the closed-side setting together determine throughput and product-size distribution. Where flakiness must be controlled, the setting is tuned to the material's compressive strength and a cone or impact crusher is used downstream for shaping.
A jaw crusher is a compression-type primary crusher suited to rock and ore with compressive strength up to about 320 MPa — granite, basalt, river stone, limestone, iron ore, gold ore, construction waste and more. Very sticky or high-moisture material needs de-sliming first or a different machine type.
PE models typically use shim or wedge adjustment and PEX fine crushers use shims; optional hydraulic adjustment is available on some models, where a hydraulic cylinder moves the adjusting seat so the setting can be changed without stopping to remove shims — useful when product size changes often.
Wear life depends on abrasiveness and feed size. On abrasive rock such as granite, high-manganese jaw plates typically last 3–6 months; on medium-soft limestone, over a year. Using Mn13Cr2 and feeding evenly extends the interval noticeably.
For hard rock (granite, basalt) use jaw + cone so the work is done by inter-particle compression with less wear. For medium-soft rock (limestone, dolomite) use jaw + impact for better particle shape and lower investment. The jaw crusher is always the first stage, reducing run-of-mine rock to what the secondary crusher can accept.
